Bajrang Punia is a Indian Free Style wrestler, born on 26 February 1994. Bajranj Punia is now 24 years old. Punia was born in Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana in India. He began Wrestling at the age of 7.

He works as Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with Indian Railway and his family has demanded for Deputy superintendent of police post with Haryana Police.On August 19th, he won the Men’s freestyle 65 kg /Gold medal

2013 Asian Wrestling Championships

In New Delhi, India, in the semi-final bout, Bajrang lost 3-1 to Hwang Ryong-hak of South Korea to win the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 60 kg category.

2013 World Wrestling Championships

In Budapest, Hungary, Bajrang won the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 60 kg category.

2014 Commonwealth Games

In Glasgow, Scotland, he won the silver medal in the men’s freestyle 61 kg category, after losing 1-4 to David Tremblay of Canada.

2014 Asian Games

In Astana, Kazakhstan, Bajrang won the silver medal in the men’s freestyle 61 kg category, losing 0-4 to Masoud Esmaeilpoorjouybari of Iran.

On August 19th, he won the Men’s freestyle 65 kg /Gold medal. He defeated Japanese Wrestler Takatani Daichi 11-8.

Lesser Known Fact About Bajrang Puniai

 He was encouraged to pursue the sport by his father who himself was wrestler.

By the age of 11, he began travelling to popular akharas far from his village and trained at Virender ka akhara for a duration of two and a half years.

At a young age of 19, Bajrang went on to participate in the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, where he managed to win Bronze medal.

He works as Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) with Indian Railway.

His Coach Name is Vinod Kumar.

Wrestler Yogeswar Dutt is Bajran Punia Mentor.

After his successive Success Bajrang decided to move to the Sports Authority of India centre in Sonepat.

Bajrang  has received prestigious Arjuna Award from Govt of India in the year 2015.
